Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
This will be the second time I jury PHNX – and I was blown away last year by the work I hadn't previously seen coming from international markets that I had to come back for more.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
Well, I judged my categories as a creative, but we all want the work to be smart and to solve a problem. When I looked back at what won in the show, remembering how I voted, it seemed we all were in the same agreement in the end.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
I love the idea, it may get glutenous with people entering their work in too many categories instead of where it best fits without the hindrance of a fee to make them more judicious. But I will enter PHNX instead of Canne/OneClub for that reason.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
Surprising and deserving work that makes me jealous.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
Well it's not AI. It's fear of rejection and lack of confidence to swing big without social blowback.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
So tough as I need to see the work but Mischief in the U.S. continues to kill it and looking forward to seeing more from Gut's offices.
