About me

Hello. My name is Wilson Mateos, and I am a Brazilian copywriter, CCO, founder, and partner at 11:11. The challenger company.

Before taking the entrepreneurial path, I was running the creative department of Leo Burnett Tailor Made São Paulo as Creative VP/ECD.

I accepted this position after working in the U.S. ad market for two years, where I was a CD at David & Goliath (Kia Motors) and 180LA (University of Phoenix).

Before my big international adventure, I spent more than 25 years working at some of the largest and most creative agencies in Brazil.
I was a copywriter at the following agencies: FCB, Lew Lara TBWA, F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, and AlmapBBDO; and was the creative director at NeogamaBBH, Y&R, DM9DDB, and CuboCC.

I have worked for large clients such as FIAT, Samsung, Heineken, Volkswagen, Audi, Renault, Toyota, Unilever, AMBEV, Diageo, Pepsi, Visa, Bradesco Bank, Mizuno, Mondelez, and Itaú Bank, among others. Outside the agency, my main interests are heavy metal music, Harley Davidson motorcycles, craft beer, street photography, drones, G.I. Joe action figures, skateboarding, Japanese manga, Japanese history, samurai movies, motorcycle club culture, and TV series. Ok, maybe it’s time for me to create a website for my hobbies too. :)

I've been working at 180LA as a Creative Director on the University of Phoenix account. My role is to partner with strategy and account to create campaigns for the client, with a holistic vision from TV to digital, social and activation. I am also in charge of leading and inspiring the creative teams to come up with the best ideas that can have a positive impact on the client's business and reputation

DM9 is DDB Brazil and I worked there as a Group CD for 3 years. My group came up with awesome campaigns (both online and offline) for some of the agency's biggest and most iconic clients, such as Itaú Bank (one of the biggest, non-governmental banks in Brazil), Sadia (BR Foods's largest brands and one of the largest food companies in the world) and Mercedes-Benz trucks. We also did some incredible work for a few non-profitable accounts, like ABTO (a pro-organ donation association and MASP (São Paulo Art Museum). By working very closely with the planning and media teams, the group was able to develop some serious innovation-driven and award-winning campaigns. As a recognition of the work done, I was invited to be a member of the Outdoor jury in the 2012 Cannes Festival.
