Motivated by his interest in design, photography and architecture, Juan Carlos started his career in the advertising business over 20 years ago.
He has been Head of Account Management and Strategic Planning at: BBDO, Leo Burnett, and Publicis Mexico. While working at these agencies, he created major advertising campaigns for some of the most famous brands in the world such as Chivas Regal, MINI, McDonald’s, M&M’s, Purina, Whiskas, Aspirin, Chrysler, BMW, Citibank Banamex, Snickers, Bimbo among others.
Juan Carlos Tapia is currently CEO at Publicis WW Mexico, which holds the title of most awarded agency at The Effie Awards Mexico 2013, and most awarded agency at Mexico’s most prestigious creative festival, Mexican Creative Club in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
His main challenge for the past year has been the integration of a more agile, strategic and creative consultancy harboring a collective of multi-skilled experts.
In addition to working at global agencies, Tapia is part of the teaching staff at the advertising school Simulador de Vuelo where he is responsible for teaching the Strategic Planning seminar. He has also been part of the Global Effie Judging staff and part of the New York Festival International Advertising Awards Judging staff. Named among the 300 most influential leaders in Mexico by Líderes Mexicanos magazine 2017.
Juan Carlos speaks English and Spanish, and resides in Mexico with his three children.
