Mark Weinfeld is the Director of the Bates USA West Strategic Planning group. He is responsible for bringing in a fresh, consumer insight into the marketing development process. This process ensures that a long-term directional mission is integrated into all levels of communication. He is involved in the Hyundai Motor America business, Wham-O, Whirl, and California Science Center.
Mark is also the Managing Director of Whetstone Resources. Whetstone is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bates USA Advertising. This division was set up specifically to provide strategic brand consulting to emerging companies that might not currently need the full-services of a global advertising agency. Whetstone specializes in brand identity development and brand equity management.
Mark rejoined Bates in June of 1996 after a two year stint at TBWA Chiat/Day as the General Manager of the regional network operations in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions. Based in Washington DC, Mark was primarily responsible for the Nissan business, but also worked on local accounts including political and non-profit campaigns.
Earlier at Bates, Mark was the Senior Vice President, Management Representative overseeing the Hyundai Motor America account team.
Prior to Bates, Mark spent five years at Saatchi & Saatchi/DFS where he worked on Pioneer Electronics and several other accounts including Bridgestone Tires, Bushnell/Bausch & Lomb Optics, Ashton-Tate Software, Dial One Franchise Group, Toyota Dealers and Toyota Industrial Equipment. Mark started at DFS as a Media Planner and completed their Management Training Program.
Mark is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He is a recipient of the 1992 Silver Effie award. Mark was a co-founder of the Orange County Advertising Softball League and continues to be active in the league today.
