PHNX Jury Interview 2024

Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
When you participate as a judge in an advertising contest, it presents a remarkable opportunity to immerse yourself in the diverse array of creative works from across the globe. It's an opportunity to be inspired by the fellow creatives, witnessing their innovative approaches firsthand. Moreover, it offers a platform to connect with emerging talents, who continually redefine the landscape with fresh ideas, reinforcing the notion that the advertising industry serves as an indispensable way for brand building.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
In the creativity field, it's crucial to remember that our ideas aren't crafted solely for creatives colleagues but for people from all walks of life. That's why having a diverse panel in the jury, comprising clients and strategists, is invaluable. This blend of perspectives ensures that we consider a range of viewpoints, allowing us to make more right decisions. Ultimately, it strengthens our ability to select ideas that resonate deeply with the people.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
Well, this is a refreshing change! It's great to consider that the world is brimming with exceptional minds, many of whom often fly under the radar. That's why I think this idea so compelling—it's a nice opportunity to shine a spotlight on more creatives and the remarkable work they're producing.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
I'd say three key aspects:

1. Innovative ideas that push boundaries.
2. Crafted works of beauty and precision.
3. Initiatives with the potential with meaningful change.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
You know, when it comes to creativity, everyone's got their own perspective. For me, I'm all about those simple ideas that pack a real punch in people's lives. I love stuff that's not just cool to look at, but actually makes a positive difference and helps others out. And let's not forget about those things that really grab your attention and make you stop and think for a while.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
The folks at Lola Mullenlowe who came up with the "Find Your Summer for Magnum" campaign.
