PHNX Jury Interview 2024

Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
I love the idea of "open/free" competition at the early stage, the kindness and the joy that surrounds PHNX. I strongly believe that among greenwashing, ghosts and poor purpose, there are many inspiring ideas that deserve to be known, shared and emphasized all around the world to inspire new creation and help great business or organization to get the recognition they are worth.
I've been telling stories in advertising for the past 22 years and "cheering up" creative teams for the past 15 years. I thought PHNX would be a great occasion to see amazing ideas and meet with great creative people.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
I'm loving it. IMHO it's the best and only way to "judge" an idea. Pure art without results is worthless. Pure results focused campaigns without new idea or great execution is an insult to audiences brains and eyes.

As soon as an ad is launched, it's no longer judged by professionals, but my mom and dad, my bros and so many cool people that do not analyse our work. They need to feel something, learn something, laugh, cry, act.

The idea of a hybrid jury really makes sense to me.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
It's worth trying !
Of course, it might attract lots of different type of work, quality wise, but I love the so -called "Coubertin way of life" that say it's all about participating.
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
Humble yet game changing.
Perfect execution, but not staring down at audience with unnecessary pride.

An idea that gives you a will to act and not just some tears or cheap thrills.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
The state of the Planet. Societies are moving fast forward or backwards and it has a major influence on people minds.
Environnemental crisis, education problems, gender equality, fight against racism...

I tend to think it has a way bigger impact than IA, which is an amazing tool. But just a tool.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
Life is not an IKEA catalogue
The Last Photo for CALM
Marcel for Orange / Women French national team football actions turned into Men actions
