Samuel Albis is an award-winning Creative Director,Film and commercial director. He started his career researching, writing and producing documentaries and news shows before becoming a copywriter in advertising. For over ten years Samuel worked in prestigious agencies in Latam and the US such as Grey, Young & Rubicam, Saatchi and Saatchi and DDB.
During his advertising years he was involved in the creation and development of successful campaigns for clients in different industries, including commercial aviation, tourism, beer, banking, health, QSR, B2B, insurance, telecommunications and clients like Procter and Gamble, Avianca, Sony, Anheuser-Busch (Bud Light, Budweiser, Michelob), State Farm TJX, McDonald’s and many more.
His work as a creative director garnered several awards including Cannes Lions, FIAP, NY Festivals, San Sebastian, ADDY’s amongst others.
After a successful career as a creative director, directing felt like the natural next step. He moved to Los Angeles where he attended UCLA and trained for over a year with the prestigious teacher Judith Weston on directing actors. Through these experiences, Samuel developed a keen sense for narrative storytelling and great performances.
Samuel started directing professionally in mid 2010. Since then his commercial work has been featured in prestigious magazines such as Shots, Shoot and Creativity Online among others, and has been honored in several national and international festivals. In 2011, he was selected and honored in a New York ceremony by Shoot Magazine as one of the New Directors to Watch.
His short film “Chub” was accepted in more than 15 important film festivals around the world earning several awards.
Today, through YBP (The Yellow Butterfly Project) he combines his advertising experience and his film-making talent to serve clients and agencies alike with crafted and smart storytelling in all traditional and digital media.
