Invented speech-enabled web search. Headed up all efforts in creating next-generation speech applications including speech-enabled, unconstricted web search. Integrated speech input across Yahoo! properties. Oversaw investment in vlingo and speech-enablement of oneSearch (oneSearch with Voice). Worked as part of the Brickhouse innovation incubator.
Create and design the best multimodal experience in local search (winner I.D. Magazine Interactive Design Award, WSJ Innovation Award, CNET Webware 100-Mobile winner, Fierce Mobile - Top Mobile Apps 2007). Create the vision for the next-generation IVR that revolutionized the industry. Drive creative application development for the largest outsourced IVR in the US as well as largest automated Directory Assistance provider. Tellme, a division of Microsoft, exists where the phone meets the internet.
Clients include Fidelity, ATTWS, UPS, Domino's Pizza, AMEX, Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo, American Airlines, Accenture, SBC, UHG, E*Trade, Verizon, Wells Fargo, Orbitz, and many others.
Leveraged the disparity between strength of unions and strength of technology between Northern and Southern California to help the Bay Area become the center of digital media production and post-production. Moved film post production from film stages to computer-sync based studios. Helped move recording from tape to digital tape to non-linear computer systems.
• Worked on the earliest digital-tape recording systems (PCM-F1, PCM-1600, Mitsubishi X-80, DBX-700) as well as last-gasp analog noise reduction systems (Dolby SR).
• Provided Sound Design for Apple's Newton and Apple's Pippin devices.
• Worked on the earliest digital work stations (from SoundCap with proprietary circuit board to the earliest SoundDesigner and ProTools).
• Pioneered SMPTE-based film post production (Audio Kinetics Q-Lock, etc.) for scoring, ADR, sound-design and mixing.
• Introduced high-quality 8-bit audio production for games, advertising, products...(Worlds of Wonder, Buick, Apple, Spectrum-Holobyte, Broderbund and many others).
• Multiple awards including Grammy nomination (Best Engineered Recording). Mixed Bobby McFerrin's Best Jazz Vocals Grammy award winning track.
• Pioneered Blue-book CD production for David Bowie, Brian Eno and many others.
• Oversaw production for the first tour of Soviet Union after Reagan/Gorbachev reinstated Cultural Exchange between US/USSR...Dave Brubeck Quartet. Resulted in TV special and album.
• Produced the first recordings at Lucas' Skywalker Ranch (featuring the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra). (Last I heard, a photo of that first session is still on the wall in the control room at Skywalker Sound.)
• Worked on many Academy Award winning films, Grammy winning albums and Emmy winning TV shows. Projects with Michael Jackson, Dave Brubeck, The Cure, Brian Eno, David Bowie, Mel Torme, Sam Shepard, David Byrne, Norman Mailer, Apple Computer (Knowledge Navigator, Newton) and many others.
Designed post-production studios. Mixed, scored weekly show for their Interactive TV program. Winner of multiple awards. This started off as Pacific Telesis and then became Pacific Bell.
