Francesco Nencini Interview(s)

POV: Director

How would you describe what you do?
As an ever changing need to look at things, people and the world surrounding me with a fresh view.
How did you get into this job?
In between the dream of becoming a National Geographic reporter and the unexpected chance of meeting my great Maestro, italian Director Massimo Magrì.
What is most challenging about what you do?
Nowadays it's the limited resources, especially time and money, that we are given to forge the right picture. Where right means the most appropriate for the brand or organization we are hired to work for.
What is most rewarding?
The best result that you can still provide with limited resources.
What’s a typical work week like?
Different from the previous and the next.
What needs to happen the most in order for a shoot to run smoothly?
An openminded approach based on reciprocal trust.
Whats your best job/worst job?
I like to think that the worst was the oldest and that the best is yet to come.
What advice would you offer someone considering a career as a Director?
Be prepared by learning from any discipline that you happen to encounter along the way and cultivate a will to step out of the ordinary.
If you had one project that you could post on AdForum to represent your work, what would it be?
The last job featured on my website www.francesconencini.com
Finally tell us something that most people don’t know about being a Director?
It's a hard job, but somebody's gotta do it.
