Brian Beletic began directing for MTV the moment he graduated from film school. Through a prolific string of innovative promos and films, he quickly became one of MTV’s top in-house directors, and significantly contributed to the launch of MTV2.
In his early days Brian directed music videos for artists such as the Black Eyed Peas, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, and Cee Lo, earning him multiple MVPA and MTV Awards.
In 2001, Beletic joined Brian Carmody and Patrick Milling Smith to launch the production company, SMUGGLER. Since SMUGGLER’s inception Brian has generated a wide range of genre-spanning work.
Creating over 450 commercials and music videos for the world’s elite brands such as Nike, Coca Cola, Adidas, Levi’s, Samsung, Jordan, Converse and Xbox – Brian’s films have garnered a wealth of Cannes Gold Lions, AICPs, Clios, and an Emmy.
As a filmmaker Brian strives for authenticity, impact, and imagination. His work is epic in scope but intimate in detail – his wide range of genres and styles reflecting his extensive interests – and the ambitious eye with which he sees the world. Over the course of his impressive career Brian has worked with the best cinematographers, production designers, and editors in the business. He cultivates and treasures those creative relationships.
Currently Brian is in development on multiple feature projects, including an Explorers Franchise with Disney and a futuristic western with producer Joe Roth.
For the past 12 years Brian has lived on film sets. He splits his time between New York, Telluride, and Los Angeles.
