There are two things I have always been passionate about: music and entrepreneurship.
In my twenties I was a bass player in multiple bands, a DJ in clubs in Amsterdam and I ran my own booking agency for local bands.
In the 90s I got involved in music composition & production for commercials and in 2000 I founded MassiveMusic. The company grew out to an international and award-winning music agency, with offices in Amsterdam, London, New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai. To this date we’ve sprinkled our melodic magic on the world’s biggest brands.
In the slipstream of MassiveMusic I founded a few other companies: Hesse Sound Studios (Berlin), Sounds Like Publishing, Kaiser Sound Studios and Usual Suspects. Along the way I’ve also put my time and energy in being an ambassador for Red Cross Amsterdam and being part of the supervisory board for the Metropole Orkest. I also became partner in my favourite beach club Timboektoe (Wijk aan Zee) and in Amsterdam restaurants Trattoria Caprese and La Vallade.
In 2011 I was granted the Amsterdam Business Award.
In 2012 I became founding partner in A’DAM Toren alongside EDM and music festival pioneers Sander Groet and Duncan Stutterheim. Our goal is to make A’DAM Toren the musical & creative headquarter and must-visit vantage point of Amsterdam. Since spring of 2016 the long-awaited A’DAM Toren is open to public. Whether it’s the revolving restaurant Moon, the breath-taking 360° observation deck LOOKOUT, the panorama bar and restaurant Madam, or the city’s member’s club A’DAM&Co., the multifunctional tower is the new home of collaboration and creation.
Last, but not least, in 2017 I was voted #1 in the Adformatie100, the annual list of Dutch creative professionals ‘who are making a difference’ in the business – voted by industry colleagues, which means a lot to me.
