Ass CCO North America, Matt work closely with David Lubars, global chief creative officer, BBDO Worldwide, along with the creative leadership across the North America offices to oversee the creative product and output.
Before taking this new role, Luiz has been with AlmapBBDO for 23 years. The agency was the world’s most awarded in 2017, 2010, 2005 and 2004, according to the Gunn Report. It was named Agency of the Year at Cannes Lions four times.
He first joined AlmapBBDO as an art director. In 2002, he became a Creative Director and since 2013, he has been a partner and Chief Creative Officer.
Luiz believes in the power of truly creative, simple and innovative ideas, and has applied this principle in memorable campaigns for both local and global advertisers including Volkswagen, HP, Visa, Pedigree, Havaianas, Pepsi, Getty Images, O Boticário and iFood, among others.
He was named most awarded creative director in the world in 2009 by the Gunn Report. In both 2010 and 2011, he was the most awarded creative director at the Cannes Lions, an accomplishment that helped AlmapBBDO win the title of Agency of the Year twice in a row. In 2017, under his creative leadership, Almap was named the most awarded agency in the world by the Gunn Report. In 2016 and 2015, the agency was in the third and second positions, respectively, in the same publication. In 2016, Almap was named Agency of the Year at the Cannes Lions, with award-winning work for HP, Volkswagen, Getty Images, Havaianas, Pedigree and Visa. The following year, it was the second most awarded agency at the Festival.
He has also been awarded at the D&AD, The One Show, Clio Awards, NY Art Directors Club, New York Festival, El Sol and FIAP. He has recently been invited to become a member of the international board of directors of The One Club. He has recently been named one of the top creative directors in Latin America by Argentinean publication LatinSpots.
