Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
Because it is a festival that rewards creativity regardless of whether it comes from a large multinational or agency, also because it gives young talent the opportunity to live the experience of being a jury, without having a great position.
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
It seems like a great strategy to me, because this way they ensure that ideas are judged not only from a creative side, but from other fronts that end up being important for the evaluation of a great idea.
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
It is an opportunity to democratize creativity, you don't have to be a big company or a big agency if you think your ideas can generate echo or are really good
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
Fresh ideas that require a lot or little budget, intelligent ideas that generate a change in society, but that are not necessarily saving the world.
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
Fun creativity. We live in a world that is too stressful and has too many social problems. A little creativity that makes us laugh or that takes us out of everyday life for a moment is much more valued right now.
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
I have only one. Jessica Apellaniz, ECD at Wieden+Kennedy México, to give much more visibility to creative women who need more voice in this industry.
