CONTEXT
On October 18, 2019, Chile experienced the largest demonstration in its history. Millions of Chileans, burdened by state abuses, took to the streets to protest income inequality, the high salaries of politicians (the highest in the OECD) and the low pensions of their retirees. But the Chilean government understood the citizen demonstration as a threat, and many people were brutally repressed by the police, who began shooting the protesters in the eyes. Gustavo Gatica, a young 21-year-old student, was one of the most serious cases of eye injuries, leaving him blind in both of his eyes. The terrible case of Gustavo removed citizens, but there was no safe place where they could express their support and contact him in the midst of everything that was happening.
